    Nie po raz pierwszy i nie po raz ostatni mam nadzieję, jestem zaskoczony płytą jaką Fallen Temple wygrzebał z najciemniejszych zakątków świata. Tym razem jest to podróż do argentyńskiej piwnicy z debiutową EPką duetu Necrocarnation zatytułowaną "Fragments of Dark Eternity". Po wydaniu demka w 2007 roku przeszli w długoletni stan hibernacji, ale powrócili w wielkim stylu.

    Często narzekam, kiedy materiał jest przekombinowany i człowiek gubi się w natłoku wszystkich dźwięków, mieszanych stylów i bardzo nieprzemyślanej konstrukcji utworów. Zazwyczaj zamiast zwykłego black metalu tudzież death metalu, otrzymujemy mieszankę tych obu stylów z coraz częstszym naciskiem na doom. Nie inaczej jest w tym wypadku. Jednak duet z Buenos Aires poszedł o krok dalej, a nawet i kilka kroków, pokazując, że da się to robić inaczej. Brzmienie całości jest nastawione na dużo niższe i wolniejsze tony, ubarwione przyśpieszeniami rodem z wczesnych kaset black metalowych początku lat 90tych. Nie udaje, że czerpie inspirację, że zajeżdża Encoffination, tylko wykorzystuje te wszystkie sprawdzone ruchy na własna korzyść nie tworząc paskudnej kalki, bądź nie będąc tworem, który ma oddawać hołd konkretnym wykonawcom. Doomowy styl gitar kojarzy się z europejskim deathem, ale szybkie i angażujące partie zawiewają tą obrzydliwą i grobową stylistyką jak to robią amerykańskie twory typu Profanatica. Dodatkowo wokal jest absolutnym mistrzostwem w wykonaniu Nocturnal Antichrist Warriora. Dawno nie słyszałem tak gardłowego, zachrypłego, grobowego głosu, który wydaje się brzmieć jak ze starych kaset z amerykańskich deathem, zarazem robiąc to w nowoczesny i przystosowany do dzisiejszej jakości dźwięku stylu. Pierwszy utwór - "Antarctic" jest absolutnie najlepszym przykładem stylu jaki oni serwują i popisem wokalu wzbogaconego o piwniczne echo, które tylko go podkreśla. Słychać na każdym kroku, że zjedli zęby na muzyce i wiedzą doskonale co robią. W dodatku jak nie przepadam za upiększaczami w postaci odgłosów, płaczów, ryków, stęków czy odgłosów krypty i intr przed każdym utworem, tak tutaj pozwala się absolutnie wczuć w klimat płyty. Jedyny zarzut jaki mogę skierować, to fakt, że jak dobrze potrafią utwór rozpocząć, tak kompletnie nie wiedzą jak go zakończyć i wszystko jest takie urwane jakbyśmy słuchali trailer płyty.

    Jest to EP, które odsłuchiwałem wielokrotnie i do tej pory mi się nie znudziło. Necrocarnation grają w dobrym stylu i wykorzystują najlepsze patenty na swoją muzykę, że nie sposób się od słuchania "Fragments of Dark Eternity" oderwać. Mogę nawet odważnie stwierdzić, że w napływie powtarzalnej, ale dobrej muzyki, są nawet w stanie wytyczyć nową ścieżkę dla black/death metalu. Mogą, choć nie muszą. Mam tylko nadzieję, że ta EP to jedynie przedsmak tego co szykują i moje oczekiwania w przyszłości spełnią, bo aż szkoda, żeby płyta odeszła w zapomnienie, jako solidna, ale nie znana pozycja na rynku.

    Not for the first time and not for the last time, I hope, I am surprised by the album that Fallen Temple found in the darkest corners of the world. This time it’s a journey to the Argentinean basement with the debut EP of the Necrocarnation duo entitled "Fragments of Dark Eternity". After releasing a demo in 2007, they went into long-term hibernation, but came back in a big way.

    I often complain when the material is overcomplicated and when I can get lost in the multitude of sounds, mixed styles and very ill-considered construction of the songs. Normally, instead of the usual black metal or death metal, we get a mixture of both styles with more and more emphasis on doom – there’s no exception in this case. However, the duo from Buenos Aires went a step further, or even a few steps, showing that it can be done differently. The sound of the whole is set for much lower and slower tones, embellished with accelerations straight from the early black metal cassettes of the early 90s. It doesn’t pretend to be inspired by the Encoffination, just uses all those proven moves to its own advantage without creating a nasty copy or being a creation which is supposed to pay tribute to particular artists. The doom style of guitars is associated with European death, but the fast and engaging parts are not as disgusting and sepulchral as the American works such as Profanatica. Additionally, the vocals are an absolute masterpiece performed by Nocturnal Antichrist Warrior. It's been a long time since I heard such a throaty, hoarse voice, which seems to sound like from the old tapes with American death, at the same time doing it in a modern style adapted to today's sound quality. The first track - "Antarctic" is absolutely the best example of the style they serve, and a display of vocals enriched by a basement echo - it only emphasizes it. You can hear at every step that they know exactly what they are doing. Furthermore, I'm not fond of all these embellishments in the form of strange noises, cries, roars, groans or the sounds of the crypt and intros before each track, but in this case it allows you to absolutely feel the atmosphere of the album. The only objection I can make is that they can start a song well, but unfortunately they don't know how to end it and everything is so unfinished as if we were listening to the trailer of the album.

    I’ve listened to this EP multiple times and so far, I haven't got tired of it. Necrocarnation play in a good style and use the best patents on their music that you cannot tear yourself away from listening to "Fragments of Dark Eternity". I can even boldly admit that in the flow of repetitive but good music, they are even able to pave a new path for black / death metal. They can do it, but they don't have to. I only hope that this EP is only a foretaste of what they are preparing and that they’ll meet my expectations in the future. It would be a pity for the album to be forgotten as a solid, but unknown item on the market.
